I need feminism because…

The boy who sexually assaulted me in 6th grade thought that “There are some things a girl has to do to make a guy happy” was justification for his actions, and when I reported the crime to the school, the first question they asked me was “Were you in dress code?”

I need feminism because I should not have to mention my boyfriend in order to stop a guy from hitting on me. It makes me feel like property.

I need feminism because my national anthem tells me that our daughters will never command anything.

And we can do better than that.

We need feminism because women’s rights are not a matter of minority rights. 

Equal rights for 100% of the population makes the globe a better place!

Because I’m not ALLOWED to tell my stepfather’s friends that he is a rapist and internet pedophile. #giveusjustice

Because even if I haven’t seen him in a year and we’re out of that house, I’m still not allowed to share the truth behind my story of self harm, depression, anxiety, psychosis, OCD and Bulimia, due to how it could affect his credibility.

I need feminism because I don’t know how to use a difibulator on a woman as it is not acceptable to show a woman’s breasts on television

I need feminism because I am a human being in the world and so are you. 

I NEED FEMINISM BECAUSE
I see too many photos like this when I’m simply searching for website templates. All too often do these websites contain half naked images of women. They could choose any other photographs to advertise their website templates but most display images objectifying women and I am sick of it.

I need feminism because…when I went for a job interview as a voice actress, I overheard the interviewers say I was “talented” and would be “perfect for the job” but that they would rather hire someone younger and prettier to look at. 

It pissed me off because not only was I being judged for my looks, but I was also being judged a job where physical appearance had no impact on how well I would do said job. 

I need feminism because…people think rape JOKES are the problem. [hint: RAPE is the problem]

I need feminism because I’ve been called a “bad feminist” for being feminine.

I need feminism because my desire to be a mother shouldn’t make me feel uncomfortable around a blog such as this.  I can be a feminist, empowered woman, AND A MOTHER!!!

I need feminism because I get judged when I tell someone I want to be a homemaker (or nurse) because apparently it is perpetuating a stereotype.

Just because I don’t want to pursue surgery, business, or some other high level position for a career does not mean my choice for my future is any less valid! I’m not settling… I’m choosing this as something I want to do!
