I need feminism cause the things I like and do shouldn’t be categorized into “girl stuff” & “guy stuff.”

I need feminism because…I need to stop feeling ashamed. 

Such as hiding my identity in this photo via over editing it. 

I need feminism because I shouldn’t feel OBLIGATED to humour every guy who hits on me, no matter how uncomfortable he makes me feel. 

I need feminism because I rode my bike home from a pool in a bike and was told by my MOTHER that it seemed like I was just looking for attention. 

I need feminism because boys messy hair is “sexy” but my messy hair is “lazy” and “UGLY”

I need feminism because I shouldn’t have to carry weapons in broad daylight, just to feel safe!

Even in small towns in Wyoming, I still have to feel frightened to go out alone. We are not the “Equality State” we claim to be.

I need feminism because society’s limited ideas about sex and love caused me to not even realize I liked women until my mid-20s.

I need feminism because even though it’s legalI can’t go swimming shirtless because I’m afraid of being harassed. 

I NEED feminism because I’m tired of my family telling me to “be more lady-like” when i curse.

I need feminism because when I wear leggings it is not an invitation for guys to touch my ass and just because I’m “thick” doesn’t mean you can yell it at me on the street. 

I need feminism because my little brother is being taught that women are “only good” for sex and sandwiches and that men are better than women. He says he learned it from his friends at school. He views women as “lesser” instead of equal. He is only 11. 

I need feminism because when I get catcalled by a 5 year old, people say “it’s not big deal. He doesn’t know what he’s saying.” Not “That’s disgusting. I can’t believe that he’s already learned such awful behavior.”

I need feminism because yesterday a man tried to finger me in the metro, when it was crowded. And i felt so paralysed that I couldn’t do anything but push his hand away.

I need feminism because when giving a lecture on abstinence at church camp, the pastor should NOT have referred to nonvirgin guys as experienced and nonvirgin girls as USED.
