I need feminism because I mentioned women’s rights and a person reacted by saying “feminism is based on hype and reverse discrimination.” I tried to explain and he brought my boyfriend’s personal life into it and used the term ‘bitch’ to describe all women. I said I was offended and he did it 2 more times as a “joke.” I was called a hypocrite because when trying to explain FEMINISM I didn’t talk about men’s rights. I was called names because I was talking about how I was afraid to dress a certain way or be alone in places like the bus stop by my school. I need feminism because this shouldn’t happen and because men shouldn’t be able to judge what it’s ok and not ok for a woman to say about being a girl, especially because they aren’t girls and don’t understand what it’s like to be one.
