I need feminism because I’ve always been “the pretty one”. my brother and cousins are the smart ones. I’ve been encouraged to be educated but was never really expected to excel, and wasn’t taken seriously about wanting to get a PhD by my parents (at first). When people ask me what I want to do when I graduate college next year and I reply with wanting to go to graduate school to get my doctorate in clinical psychology, I almost always get the look that says “right. good luck with that.” 

I need feminism because society needs to stop judging women based on how they look, and understand that women are human, and created equal.
