“I need feminism because I shouldn’t be called a ‘feminazi’ for thinking a woman being forced into submission by her ‘true love’ is WRONG.
Just because it may be the ‘male ideal’, it shouldn’t mean I have to conform to it as a woman.
I HAVE MY OWN IDEALS.”
This was sparked by a discussion on a forum board for a popular series of books. A user posted something calling everyone who thought the book was misogynistic ‘feminazis’ for thinking that the male lead was abusive for forcing his girlfriend, the main character, into submission by using his wealth, berating her opinions, treating her like she was lesser and stupider than him, like she didn’t know what was best for herself.
The Original Poster went on to say that a submissive woman is the ‘male ideal’, so we should be okay with it, and we were being ‘overly-sensitive’.
Needless to say, I responded, as well as a few of the other forum regulars.
The OP has yet to respond.
