“I need feminism because my best female friend not only thinks men are more interesting than women are, but as far as intelligent debate goes, smarter.”

I need feminism because I’m tired of Romance and stories written from the Female Perspective being categorized as Women’s Fiction.
I need feminism because as soon as I tell people that I have two moms they ask me how stuff works with no man in the house.
I need feminism because…
(1) Guys still think it’s 100% acceptable to grab my ASS in clubs and then shrug and smile as if it’s a compliment.
(2) My uncle thought it was OK to tell me that my legs are “heavy for what’s seen as fashionable” - my body is not a fashion statement.
(3) FEMINISM is about EQUALITY and by the legal definition, a man cannot be “raped” by a woman and I find that SEXISTand DESPICABLE.
(4) I still catch myself saying ‘facebook-rape’, and the fact that this is normalised is NOT okay.
(5) It took me 18 and a half years to realise that feminism is a worthwhile cause, to raise the courage to call myself one.
(6) When I asked my boyfriend if he is a feminist, he felt the need to say “technically, by the book, I am,” because feminism is so wrongly represented and people often don’t know jack shit about what it’s actually about.
(7) Because earlier this week, one of my flatmates, who is actually VERY intelligent, said in a disgusted tone, “anyone who says that being kicked in the balls hurts less than childbirth is a feminist.” last time I checked being kicked in the balls didn’t hurt for days, didn’t require drugs to numb the pain and didn’t involve squeezing a melon out the end of your pe

I need feminism because, when I show an interest in something genuinely masculine like the military, I am told that I am a “slut looking for some d.”
I need feminism because, when I stated that, my conversational partner disconnected without a word.
I need feminism because I cannot show my face or body on camera without being sexually harassed. “TITS” is not an appropriate greeting, and NO, you may not see a naked picture of me. Saying no to these things does not make me a “SLUT” or “CUNT!”
I need feminism because today I was going to buy this t-shirt from the men’s section of a clothing store. The shop assistant tried to take it from me because “it’s a men’s t-shirt. It isn’t made for female bodies.” I said that I had tried it on and liked it, so I wanted to buy it. A group of nearby middle-aged men then started scoffing, and one said, “you don’t want to buy that shirt anyway. It gives men the wrong impression.” What wrong impression? What? Just let me buy the damn shirt without making me feel like I’m doing something wrong as a woman just because I wear men’s t-shirts. I don’t need or want your comments. (men’s t-shirts are usually cooler than women’s t-shirts anyway.)
I need feminism because I don’t want my son growing up thinking that he has no control over how he treats others. I want him to know that he won’t turn into an animal just because another person happens to be drunk or wearing “provocative” clothing.
There is no justification for sexual assault. As well as being remarkably dis-empowering to the victim, the “she was drunk” etc etc arguments place men in the default position of being a sexual predator. How are more men not outraged by that? I would like to believe that I, as a man, have enough self control not to sexually assault another person regardless of setting or circumstance. I don’t want my son to grow up afraid that he is not in control of his own actions and may harm somebody as a result. Every person is responsible for their own actions, sexual assault is a CRIME and sexual assault is NEVER THE FAULT OF THE VICTIM.

We need feminism because no one should be oppressed for being themselves.

I need feminism because people have died due to patriarchy.

I need feminism because my best (male) friend told me I don’t have a boyfriend because I am “too independent.” My self sufficiency and confidence should NOT be a turnoff.
I need feminism because boys* don’t realise that no isn’t playing hard to get. It means I won’t kiss you.
*some boys
Sick of boys groping me in nightclubs and having to shout no, pull them off me and threaten to report them to security if they don’t leave me alone right now. If I did that, it would be bunny boiling, if they do it I’m frigid. Sexist Logic’s the best.
